Connecticut ContractorCheck

How we verify

Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor Check is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

We download the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection's open credential data (data.ct.gov, dataset ngch-56tr) and keep rows with the credential Home Improvement Contractor and status Active whose registration term has not expired on the day we check. Contractors with an address outside Connecticut are left out of this directory, even if they hold a registration. Pending, denied, suspended, inactive and revoked records are left out entirely.

The name shown is the registered business name or the "doing business as" name; for sole proprietors the registrant's own name appears as a fact on the profile. The address is the address the registrant gave DCP, which is sometimes a home or mailing address rather than an office.

"Registered since" is the issue date in the state's data. A registration is not an endorsement of workmanship or competence, and we do not suggest otherwise. This directory does not show complaints or discipline.

Order within a town: longest-registered first (capped at 40 years), then alphabetical. Featured contractors appear in a separate, labelled box and never change that order.

The state data has no phone numbers. Contractors who claim their listing can add one.

What a badge means

Registration active: the contractor's home improvement registration appears in the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection credential data as Active with a current term that has not expired on the date shown. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness
